On June 30, the webinar Poultry Sector in the UAE- Challenges & Opportunities took place, as the 3rd session in a series of webinars taking place this summer, initiated by the Netherlands Embassy.
The lively session that lasted approximately 1 hour, attracted a dedicated audience consisting of 209 persons based in the UAE, GCC and the Netherlands, all active in poultry production (broilers and eggs). Keynote speaker was HE Saeed Al Bahri Salem Al Ameri, Director General of ADAFSA.
The webinar was organized by ADAFSA and The Netherlands Embassy in Riyadh and Dubai in close cooperation with Roots Animal Farming Services, Dutch Poultry Centre and VIV MEA.
During the webinar speakers and panelists elaborated on the many aspects involved in UAE’s goal for doubling their local poultry production. Key topics were: identification and response mechanism to (health) risks, the tension between increasing the volume and quality, food safety and costs control, changing consumer behavior, efficiency driven by integration and automation and usage of water and energy in connection to the local environmental factors.

H.E. Lody Embrechts
Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the UAE
Lody Embrechts is the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the UAE. He previously served as Ambassador to South Korea, North Korea and Malaysia and also worked in Iraq (Coalition Provisional Authority) and Iran. Lody worked as Consul General for the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Dubai and the Northern Emirates from 1999 to 2003 after having worked for two years in the embassy in Abu Dhabi. Lody Embrechts worked for Shell International as Advisor International Government Relations.
He holds a degree in International Business and Tax Law from Leiden University although he initially studied to become a teacher.
